About Huggady Dino

Huggady Dino is the dinosaur reading of a shape Jellycat has used across a small family of characters — the Huggady line, which also runs to a dog, an elephant, a hippo and a panda. The house copy describes him as floppy and mossy, a gentle giant in grassy green fur with kindly oval eyes, a chonky muzzle, squidgy-soft paws, snuggly spines down the back and a perky tail. That reads as fair: the Huggadys are beanie-weighted, slumpy things built to drape rather than sit up smartly, and the Dino trades the fierce silhouette most plush dinosaurs reach for in favour of something closer to a very large, very patient pet.

He was made in at least two sizes, a Medium and this Large, and both have gone. Jellycat's own index no longer lists him and every stockist we track shows him sold out, so "retired" is the honest reading — though we can't put a date on it. Release is the same story: our best evidence is a year, 2021, with no day behind it, and the earliest shop listing we've seen is October of that year, which tells you when a shop stocked him and not when Jellycat made him. Dinosaur listings on the secondhand market are noisy — the word "Dino" attaches to a dozen unrelated Jellycats — so check the SKU, not the title, before you believe a price.

What we still don't know
  • Exact release date and month — only a year-level bound, unverified.
  • Retirement date — absent from Jellycat's index since 2026-07-29, but that is when we first checked, not when it went.
  • Whether a Small or Huge size ever existed; only Medium and Large are corroborated.
  • Whether the Medium and Large retired at the same time.
  • Manufacturer RRP — the figures we hold are shop asking prices backfilled, not a Jellycat price.
