About Perry Polar Bear
Perry is Jellycat's polar bear in the plainest and best sense: a cub sitting neatly on a beany bottom, in what Jellycat itself called "cloudy cream" rather than white - a warm, snow-lit off-white that photographs quite differently from the stark white the name suggests. Jellycat's own copy sold him on softness above all, "as soft as freshly fallen snow," with a bobble nose and a nubbly little tail, and that is more or less the whole character. No scarf, no hat, no story beyond the North Pole. He arrived in 2017 and ran across four sitting sizes, from a palm-sized Tiny up to a Large.
He belongs to the Winter and Christmas end of the range, though stockists may carry him year-round rather than seasonally. He is a different animal from Perry Polar Bear Lying, which is its own design and shouldn't be mistaken for a pose variant of this one.
Jellycat's archived pages show the Small marked Discontinued by August 2025, and none of the four sizes appear in Jellycat's live index across our recent checks. Resale supply is steady rather than scarce; the listings we see are asking prices, not sales.
- Exact release date within 2017 — no primary source gives a day or month.
- Whether the Tiny (PE6P) really has embroidered rather than hard/button eyes.
- Retirement date for the Tiny, Medium and Large: we have a Discontinued reading only for the Small (by 2025-08-11), and an in-stock reading for the Medium on 2024-06-13.
- Whether the sizes retired together or staggered.
- Genuine scarcity — resale volume looks ordinary, but we have no sold-price data, only asking prices.
