About Toothy Shark
Toothy Shark belongs to Jellycat's 'Toothies' range — a family of animals built around one joke, a mouthful of oversized white corduroy teeth grinning out of a soft, beany body. The shark is the sea-going member: dark navy, black button eyes, tiny fins, a pointy tail and stubby little legs that let him sit up on a shelf rather than swim. The teeth do all the work. Where most Jellycat sharks read sleek or sleepy, this one reads goofy, and that is why collectors chase him.
He had siblings — Toothy Mutt and Toothy Dragon among them — but the whole range seems to be gone. Jellycat no longer lists Toothy Shark in any size, so the secondhand market is the only market. Beware the name: 'Jellycat shark' listings are thick with Pebbles Whale Shark and the hammerheads, which are entirely separate designs at entirely different prices.
We know the release year but not the month, so it is shown as a range.
- Exact release month and day — only the year is bounded.
- Exact retirement date; we know only that all three SKUs are now absent from Jellycat's index.
- The full membership of the 'Toothies' range. Multiple sources repeat a count, but that count was already adjudicated as unsupported, and the sources repeating it are one republished body of copy, not independent.
- Original RRP in GBP for any size — no primary Jellycat page or archive snapshot survives for this design.
- Whether the Small (TO6SH) and Medium (TO3SH) retired at the same time or years apart.
