About Alice Axolotl
Alice is Jellycat's hot-pink axolotl, and the one that started the pair — Jellycat's own copy calls her "a whole lot of kooky in hot pink floof," bubblegum-bright, with squidgy-soft feet, a goofy grin and a supercool long fuzzy tail. She waggles her tufty gills, which are the whole point of her: the frilly fringe is what makes an axolotl read as an axolotl, and it's what makes her sit up rather than flop. Her blue sibling Andie arrived after her and is still the easier of the two to find, so collectors chasing the set almost always end up hunting Alice.
She came in two sizes, a Medium (AL3AX) and a Small (AL6AX). Jellycat's own European site had the Medium in stock as late as October 2024, out of stock through 2025, and flagged discontinued by that October — so we can bracket her retirement to roughly that year without pinning a date. Second-hand asking prices for the Medium cluster in the $40–$60 range, tags-on examples higher, but those are what sellers want, not what anyone has paid.
- Exact release date for either size — no primary Jellycat source earlier than the 2024 archive snapshot.
- Whether the Small (AL6AX) retired at the same time as the Medium; no archive snapshot for AL6AX exists.
- Actual sold prices — every price we hold is an asking price.
- Whether 'Freshwater Animals' is a genuine Jellycat range or an aggregator's category.
- Whether Alice and Andie were ever sold as a deliberate pair or simply share a mould.
